Zoom Servo (Zoom Demand)
Uses a sensitive pressure rocker switch to continuously adjust the zoom speed, giving the operator absolute control over the lens movement.
The electronic Servo controller ensures smooth zoom movements without jerkiness or vibration, which is critical for live broadcasts and high-quality film production.
Integrated Function Buttons: Often features convenient buttons like REC/VTR (Record/Playback) and Zoom Speed/Limit, allowing quick access to camera functions.
Ergonomic Design: Available in various designs (handheld, handle-mounted) to suit different shooting environments, from EFP (outdoor production) to Studio.
Wide Compatibility: Uses standard connection ports (typically 8-pin or 12-pin) to ensure compatibility with most Canon and Fujinon Broadcast lenses.
Description
1. Precise Operational Mechanism:
- Zoom Rocker: The rocker lever is the central component, reacting to fingertip pressure to change the zoom speed. This allows the operator to “feel” the zoom speed, delivering more cinematic results than conventional push-button zoom operations.
- Max Speed Limit Function: Many controllers feature a dial or switch to limit the maximum zoom speed, ensuring the operator does not accidentally perform too fast a zoom in shots requiring slow movement.
2. Design and Mounting:
- Handheld Design: Typically mounted onto the lens or camera grip (e.g., models for ENG lenses). Box Demand Design: Intended for studio or remote control systems (e.g., mounted to pan-tilt tripod handles).
- Tally Integration: Higher-end models may feature integrated Tally lights to display recording (red) or standby (green) status.
3. Enhanced Workflow Performance:
- In a broadcast environment, the Zoom Servo is indispensable equipment.
- It allows the Focus/Iris controller (located at the remote control station) to control the zoom via a corresponding controller, ensuring perfect consistency and coordination among team members.
